Before harvesting the extremely fragrant and tender leave buds the tea garden is shaded for about 3 weeks to increase the chlorophyll levels in the tea leaves. This process contributes to the colour, aroma and taste. Less exposure to sunlight gives this tea a mild and sweet flavour and less astringency.
